Fractional Payroll Jobs in Indiana (NOW HIRING)

Fractional Payroll information

What is a fractional payroll professional?

A Fractional Payroll professional is an expert who manages payroll processes for a company on a part-time or contract basis rather than as a full-time, in-house employee. This arrangement allows businesses—especially small or growing ones—to access specialized payroll expertise without the cost of a full-time hire. Fractional Payroll professionals handle tasks such as processing employee pay, managing tax withholdings, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and maintaining accurate payroll records. They often serve multiple clients and can help streamline payroll operations, reduce errors, and ensure timely payments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fractional payroll specialist?

To excel as a Fractional Payroll Specialist, you need a solid understanding of payroll processing, tax regulations, and compliance, often supported by experience in accounting or finance and relevant certifications such as the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC). Familiarity with payroll software like ADP, Paychex, or QuickBooks, as well as proficiency in Excel, is typically required. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and effective communication are crucial for ensuring accuracy and managing client relationships. These skills and qualifications are vital to delivering accurate payroll services across multiple clients, maintaining compliance, and building trust in a fractional or outsourced capacity.

How does a fractional payroll professional typically collaborate with multiple clients and manage varying payroll systems?

Fractional Payroll professionals often work with several clients simultaneously, each with their own payroll systems and unique compliance requirements. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time for each client. Professionals frequently coordinate with HR teams, accountants, and external vendors to gather data and resolve discrepancies. Staying up-to-date with payroll regulations across different industries is essential, and flexibility is key to adapting to each client’s preferred processes and software platforms.

Job description

Fort Wayne, IN · Office + field (downtown, 110 E. Wayne St.) · $35K base + uncapped commission · $50K Year-1 OTE · Defined path to full-cycle sales at $80K+

You'll open the Fort Wayne market for Tomorrow's Technology Today, a managed IT and cybersecurity provider serving Ohio and Indiana businesses since 2002. This is not a cold-start seat: 300 direct mailers a week go out ahead of your calls, a 1,600-contact warm queue is waiting, and our current part-time caller books 5–6 appointments a month on 20 hours a week. You'll run that proven motion full-time from our downtown office.

Prove you can hunt and we train you into qualifying calls, discovery meetings, and proposals - full-cycle sales.

What you'll do

  • Book 10–12 sat appointments a month (appointments that actually happen) through daily call blocks and direct-mail follow-up
  • Work Fort Wayne in person - chamber events, networking, canvassing - qualifying 10–75 user businesses (manufacturers, municipalities, healthcare, CPAs, banks) with owners and decision-makers
  • Keep HubSpot current - every call, contact, and canvass logged same-day

The path

Phase 1, you hunt - $50K on-target. Hit your number 2–3 months running and we layer in the sales process one stage at a time. Full-cycle comp adds one month of MRR on every deal you close plus 7% of projects - $80K+ on target, uncapped. Our current full-cycle rep came up through this same progression; we'll show you the exact comp math in the final interview.

What support you'll have

  • Sales coaching: we've retained MSP Sales Partners as our fractional sales coaching engine - playbooks, weekly coaching, call reviews, and a paid training period
  • HubSpot training and day-to-day support from our team
  • Engineers scope the technical side; service delivery owns the account after close - you sell, you don't service tickets

Compensation and benefits

  • Base: $35,000 · Commission: $125 per sat appointment, paid from day one - roughly $15,000 at target, uncapped
  • Year-1 OTE: $50,000 · Full-cycle OTE once promoted: $80,000+
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance – Major medical coverage through Aetna Signature Administrators, plus dental and vision plans through Principal. Coverage begins the 1st of the month after a 60-day waiting period for new hires.
  • Life Insurance – The company pays 100% of the premium for a Basic Life and AD&D policy ($20,000 for the employee).
  • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance – Provides 60% of weekly earnings (up to $1,500/week) after a 14-day elimination period for injury/sickness.
  • Accident Insurance – Employer covers 100% of the employee-only premium.
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan – Available to full-time and part-time employees beginning of the quarter after a 90-day probationary period, with a company match of up to 3% dollar-for-dollar plus an additional 2% (up to 6% total).
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) – A combined vacation/sick/personal leave bank that accrues weekly after the 90-day probation period, increasing with tenure (from ~40 hours/year up to 156 hours/year at 15+ years of service).
  • Paid Holidays – Six paid holidays annually: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
  • Jury Duty, Military Leave, and Bereavement Leave – Paid retention of active payroll status for jury/military duty; up to 3 days of paid bereavement leave for immediate family.

What you bring

Must-have: based in or near Fort Wayne; comfortable on the phone at volume and face-to-face with business owners; a track record of hitting activity or quota goals in any industry; organized enough to run a CRM without being chased.

Preferred: B2B appointment setting or full-cycle sales; experience selling recurring services - managed IT, copiers, telecom, payroll, insurance, merchant services.

Not sure you check every box? If you can out-hustle your resume, apply - don't self-select out.
