Job description

Fortune Electric America is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our growing Accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys Accounts Payable while expanding their experience across general accounting, financial reporting, audits, and process improvement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
  • Process vendor invoices accurately and timely. 
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies. 
  • Prepare weekly payment runs (ACH, wire transfers, and checks). 
  • Process employee expense reports. 
  • Maintain electronic AP records and supporting documentation. 
General Accounting
  • Prepare account reconciliations. 
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities. 
  • Record journal entries. 
  • Assist with sales tax documentation and filings. 
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities. 
  • Prepare various accounting schedules and reports. 
Financial Reporting & Audits
  • Prepare supporting schedules for external auditors. 
  • Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting. 
  • Gather documentation for internal and external audit requests. 
  • Maintain organized accounting records. 
Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes. 
  • Assist in documenting accounting procedures. 
  • Recommend efficiencies through automation and improved workflows. 
  • Participate in special accounting projects. 
Cross-Training
This position will be cross-trained in multiple accounting functions to provide departmental support and backup coverage, including:
  • Accounts Receivable 
  • General Ledger 
  • Bank reconciliations 
  • Financial reporting 
  • Project accounting support 
  • Month-end close activities 
What We're Looking For
Education
  • Associate's Degree in Accounting required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Experience
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience
  • Strong Accounts Payable experience
  • General Ledger experience preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle and QuickBooks are a plus)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
