POSITION SUMMARY

 Manage the daily operations for the recycling contract for Laughlin AFB, which includes the collection, sorting, compression, and baling and distribution of recyclable materials. Support the organization in its mission to help change lives through the power of work. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  1. Operate the Recycling Center where local residents with access to the base installation drop off recyclables. 
  2. Supervise and assist Recycling Associates who collect, unload, sort, compact, bale, and load recyclables for either delivery or pickup. 
  3. Connect with customers regularly to assess satisfaction with services or respond to issues, requests, or complaints. 
  4. Discuss status of work in progress, personnel and equipment requirements, projected work requirements, and overall condition of the contract with the Director of Contract Services. 
  5. Forecast workload requirements; oversee equipment maintenance; and repair and replacement schedules. 
  6. Ensure team members are regularly briefed on and adhere to all safety requirements and are trained in the safe use of equipment. 
  7. Prepare and deliver timely performance appraisals for direct reports, and ensure performance appraisals for assigned work units are completed on time and in a quality manner. Coordinate with Human Resources to administer rewards and recognition, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, or terminations in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. 
  8. Adhere to, and ensure adherence to, all Loss Prevention and inventory control and compliance, risk management, and ethics policies and procedures.
  9. Safeguard donations and all Goodwill property and resources; secure from harm, theft, accidental loss, or disposal. Promptly investigate or participate in investigations for all reported incidents. 
  10. Maintain harmonious working relations between team members. Ensure team member complaints are promptly addressed, and follow through to resolution. 
  11. Prepare monthly management reports for disposal, waste abatement, etc. 
  12. Conduct performance appraisals and handle performance related issues. 
  13. Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner. 

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Associates Degree and minimum 2 years’ experience managing a recycling operation OR equivalent combination of education, experience and/or military training.
  2. Must be a US Citizen and eligible for a secret security clearance.  
  3. Must obtain a forklift operator permit and Hepatitis B Service and Tetanus Vaccine.
  4. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  5. Must have good computer skills to include Microsoft Office applications.
  6. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  7. For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.
