POSITION SUMMARY:
As a valued member of the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation, a lifeguard assumes a pivotal role in safeguarding the well-being of visitors. Lifeguards are the primary caretakers of the pool and perform maintenance duties and other operational tasks. They report directly to the Pool Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide emergency care and treatment.
  • Enforces all department rules and regulations of the pool.
  • Assists Pool Manager with daily operations.
  • Assists or teaches lessons or other programs as assigned.
  • Cleans the bathrooms and locker rooms.
  • Performs a variety of maintenance tasks.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Any combination of experience and training which affords the applicant an opportunity to gain the above listed knowledge, skill, and ability.
  • Current lifeguard certification and CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Must be at least 15 years of age.
  • Capable of working a flexible schedule of up to but not exceeding 40 hours per week including holidays, weekends, and evenings (weather dependent).
  • Ability to assist with lessons and with after hour events.
  • Possess good communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Current FBI Fingerprint, PA Child Abuse, and PA Criminal Background Check clearances as required by law.
