Job description

Overview

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, performs laboratory testing in any of the various sections of the laboratory, performs control testing and initiates troubleshooting steps for problem areas. The following statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.

Qualifications

Education: A.S. degree in MLT / B.S. degree in Medical Technology, or chemical, physical or biological science or chemical, physical or biological science with clinical training in a school approved by  ASCP.

License/Registration or certification: Registered by ASCP preferred.

Additional skills/abilities: Competency of components of laboratory technology, as appropriate.Verbal ability to communicate with patients and other clientele instructions and other information. Numerical ability to calculate by formula.Form perception, visual acuity in the color spectrum to perform specific lab tests.
