Our emergency department is a level III trauma center with 53 beds available. We see patients from all ages (including neonatal & geriatric) and diagnoses. On this unit you can earn the following certificates: TNCC, ENPC, SANE, CEN, TCRN, and CPEN. The emergency department has a robust Interprofessional Practice Council lead by bedside team member where nursing, provides, and support staff come together to discuss opportunities to make changes at the bedside. There are opportunities to grow in your career through the SANE training, emergency and trauma certification and support for further formal education.
Nursing skills gained on this unit:
- Obtain TNCC, ENPC, SANE, CEN, TCRN, and CPEN certificates
- Providing patient care in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding how to balance nurse to patient ratios while providing excellent patient care

Qualifications
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
- Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
