Description of Task to be Performed:
AnaVation is seeking a Senior-Level Systems Engineer to plan, design, and implement enhancements to network hardware, server infrastructure, and operating systems in support of a mission-critical forensic and investigative ecosystem. The selected candidate will provide direct operational support for network hardware and operating systems while ensuring the infrastructure remains secure, resilient, and reliable across multi-enclave environments.
Extensive expertise in Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure will be critical to architecting and maintaining advanced systems that support the forensic and investigative ecosystem across highly sensitive environments. You will ensure the reliability, security, and robustness of mission-critical infrastructure while meeting the stringent requirements of classified operations. This role is 100% onsite.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coordinate, design, develop and implement additions and changes to network hardware, infrastructure server environments, and operating systems
  • Provide direct support in day-to-day operations of network hardware and operating systems
  • Troubleshoot at both physical and logical network levels
  • Participate in planning, design, technical review and implementation for new network infrastructure
  • Perform systems management and integration functions across multi-enclave environments
  • Maintain network infrastructure standards including communication protocols such as TCP/IP
  • Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems
  • Ensure systems are current with approved patches and assist with certification and accreditation tasks
  • Develop strategy for client/server systems and design infrastructure to support that strategy
  • Advise on selection of technological purchases for processing, data storage, data access, and applications development • Participate in Program Increments (PIs) and Agile Release Train (ART) activities

This position requires an active Top Secret (TS) clearance and the ability to obtain SCI access with a CI polygraph. This position is on-site with our customer in Chantilly, VA.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering or related field.
  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) with a CI polygraph.
  • Understanding of forensic and investigative system requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing secure systems in government environments.

Advanced proficiency with:
  • Enterprise network administration and security for Top Secret enclaves
  • Cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud, SC2S, C2S) implementation with security controls for classified workloads
  • Linux and Windows operating systems with security hardening for classified use
  • Windows Active Directory configuration and security in air-gapped environments
  • Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) in Top Secret environments with enhanced security controls
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for secure, automated deployments
  • Security accreditation processes (RMF, NIST 800-53) for TS/SCI systems
  • Cross-domain solutions for secure data transfer between classification levels

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.
  • Experience implementing Nutanix solutions in classified environments.
  • Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure design, implementation, and management in classified environments highly preferred
  • Advanced virtualization technologies (VSphere, VXRail, Proxmox, Nutanix AHV) for secure environments highly preferred
  • Knowledge of specialized security controls for classified hyper-converged infrastructure.
  • Comprehensive understanding of forensic and investigative system requirements for intelligence operations.
  • Background in designing systems for SCIFs and other secure facilities.
  • Experience with cross-domain solutions in Top Secret environments.
  • Prior work implementing secure backup and disaster recovery solutions for classified data.
  • Experience with specialized compute and storage requirements for forensic workloads.
  • Nutanix certifications (NCP, NPX) preferred.
  • Security certifications (CISSP, Security+) preferred.
