Job description

PURPOSE:

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for performing key daily, weekly, and monthly accounting, reporting, forecasting, and analysis activities supporting the Montana/Renewables business unit. The role will work closely with plant operations, project teams, and business leadership to provide timely financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, and decision support while ensuring compliance with company policies and internal controls.

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide comprehensive analysis of the Montana/Renewables business unit and work cross functionally with plant operations to develop and further understanding of overall operational processes
  • Conduct monthly business analysis and interact with business leadership and FP&A, as appropriate
  • Partner with operations, accounting, and information systems teams to develop reporting improvements, automate recurring processes, and improve financial data quality
  • Support SAP-related accounting processes, system testing, financial data validation, and troubleshooting of business transactions
  • Support analysis, accruals, and reporting related to renewable fuels programs, environmental credits, carbon intensity metrics, and associated business performance drivers
  • Prepare and post journal entries, review staff-prepared entries, and ensure accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies and internal controls
  • Analyze business trends and review P&L and balance sheet trends for the business unit
  • Coordinate tracking and forecasting of site capital spending (liaison with MT capital projects team)
  • Provide support and expertise in the preparation of annual budgets for the business unit
  • Ensure all work is conducted according to company policies and procedures and all work is documented thoroughly while maintaining and supporting internal and external controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information
  • Ability to travel to the plant, as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of progressive experience working in a finance, financial analysis, or accounting role
  • Experience working with large sets of data
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and other formulas)

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:

  • SAP experience
  • Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and ability to apply them to the organization's accounting needs
  • Familiarity with internal control frameworks and SOX compliance

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required to interact with a wide range of customers, including Senior Management
  • Ability to define problems, identify solutions, and follow through to completion
