Position Overview
The Footwear Designer will design and develop SKIMS' expanding footwear category, translating the brand's iconic aesthetic into innovative, functional, and trend-forward products. This role is ideal for a creative, detail-oriented designer with a strong understanding of footwear construction, materials, and the luxury and contemporary markets.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop seasonal footwear collections, from concept through production, in alignment with brand vision and market trends.
• Create detailed design sketches, technical drawings, and tech packs with precise specifications.
• Partner with Product Development, Merchandising, and Sourcing teams to ensure product feasibility, quality, and timely delivery.
• Research new materials, technologies, and sustainable innovations in footwear design and manufacturing.
• Participate in fittings, wear testing, and product reviews, providing clear feedback and creative solutions.
• Support brand storytelling through design, ensuring cohesive visual identity across categories.
• Analyze competitive landscape and consumer insights to drive product differentiation and innovation.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Visual Merchandising teams to highlight key product features and trends.
• Maintain organized design libraries, inspiration boards, and seasonal presentation materials.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in footwear design, ideally in a luxury or contemporary brand environment.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating technical expertise and innovative footwear designs.
• Advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and 3D design tools (CLO3D, Rhino, or equivalent).
• In-depth knowledge of footwear construction, last development, and materials.
• Strong trend awareness and ability to balance creativity with commercial viability.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
• Passion for innovation, inclusivity, and SKIMS' mission.
