Job description

Middle School Football Coach

McKenzie School District is seeking a Middle School Football Coach for the 2026-27 school year.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities
  • Ride the team bus to and from athletic events
  • Plan and organize practices to support individual and team development
  • Teach Football skills, rules, techniques, and sportsmanship
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and administration
  • Maintain appropriate student behavior and ensure athlete safety
  • Coordinate scheduling, facilities, equipment, transportation, and eligibility requirements with the Athletic Director
  • Promote positive team culture and serve as a positive role model for student-athletes
  • Monitor athlete academic eligibility and participation requirements
  • Assist with equipment inventory, care, and program organization
  • Participate in program events such as parent nights, awards events, and pep assemblies
  • Follow all district, league, OSAA, and state athletic regulations and procedures

Assistant coaches may be hired based on participation numbers.

Qualifications

  • Previous football coaching experience preferred
  • High school playing experience required; college experience preferred
  • Knowledge of football rules, strategies, and coaching techniques
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with students, families, staff, and administration
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a Type 20 certification in order to drive district vehicles
  • Must complete all required NFHS and sport-specific trainings prior to the season
  • CPR/First Aid certification required
  • Fingerprinting and criminal background check required
  • Must comply with Oregon licensure requirements and district policies

Compensation

Seasonal stipend of $1,545 - $1,947, depending on experience

Start Date

September 2026 with preseason preparation as needed prior to the start of the season
