Job description

At PEJU, we strive to be the highlight of every guest's visit to Napa Valley. The Service Captain plays a key leadership role in delivering seamless, elevated hospitality experiences at PEJU Winery. This position oversees the execution of on-site events, ensuring service standards are upheld while creating a warm, welcoming environment for our guests.
At PEJU, events range from intimate wine club gatherings to larger corporate and consumer experiences. The Service Captain acts as the bridge between the culinary team, event planners, and front-of-house staff to ensure every detail is executed with precision and genuine hospitality. This position will be an on-call role, with evening and weekend availability preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Execution
  • Lead front-of-house service for all events, including corporate gatherings, wine club events, and consumer-facing experiences
  • Oversee event setup, service flow, and breakdown to ensure a polished and consistent presentation
  • Act as the primary point of contact on-site during events, ensuring timelines and service standards are met
  • Anticipate guest needs and resolve issues proactively and discreetly

Coordination & Communication
  • Partner closely with the culinary team to ensure smooth food service and timing
  • Collaborate with the Events & Partnerships Manager to understand run-of-show, guest preferences, and special requests
  • Communicate clearly with all teams before, during, and after events

Operational Excellence
  • Ensure all event spaces are clean, organized, and set to standard
  • Maintain knowledge of PEJU wines, event menus, and property layout
  • Uphold all safety, sanitation, and alcohol service standards

Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in hospitality, events, or restaurant service
  • Strong understanding of food and wine service, preferably in a winery or fine dining environment
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Professional, polished, and service-driven demeanor

Salary Description
