Job description

Creative Dining Services at University Of Saint Francis is currently looking for a Part-Time General Food Service Workers. The General Food Service Worker performs a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving food and beverages in one or more food service environments. This position may assist with food preparation, service, cashiering, maintaining work areas, and supporting daily kitchen operations. Team members may also work in our pizza station, preparing pizzas and assisting with ingredient preparation based on business needs.

Typical schedule is weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with weekend shifts as business needs require.
Schedule may vary based on operational needs and staffing requirements.

Core Responsibilities of the General Food Service Worker: 

  • Sets up food service, kitchen, or salad area facilities, equipment and utensils, under detailed instruction, in accordance with specific area needs; checks food temperatures and/or prepares areas for daily operations; may operate cooking or bakery equipment as assigned.   
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of hot and cold meals and beverages.   
  • Prepares and builds pizzas according to established recipes and quality standards. Assists with preparing pizza sauces, specialty toppings, and ingredients, while helping prep items for the nacho bar. Monitors and restocks the pizza station and nacho bar throughout the day to ensure product availability.
  • Utilizes prior pizza-making experience to efficiently prepare pizzas, adjust production based on customer demand, and transition between pizza production and general food prep duties as business traffic dictates
  • May clean and maintain work areas, including floors, facilities, dishes, utensils, and equipment; collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers; as appropriate to the area of operation.   
  • Washes pots, pans, and other service ware ensuring sanitary handling; organizes and replaces service ware to appropriate location.   
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.   

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred   
  • Basic reading and math skills   
  • Previous pizza-making experience preferred, with the ability to prepare pizzas efficiently, maintain quality standards, and adapt to changing customer volume by assisting with food preparation and other kitchen responsibilities as needed.
  • Must be able to communicate and understand primary language(s) use by guests who typically visit the work location   
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.
