Job description

Position Overview

Dixon Social Interactive Services, Inc. is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Contract Cook to provide meal preparation and food service for program members. This role is responsible for preparing nutritious meals, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring a clean and organized kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Follow menu plans and dietary guidelines provided by DSIS
  • Ensure proper food storage, handling, and serving practices
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen tools, appliances, and workspaces
  • Comply with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Accommodate specific dietary and nutritional needs as directed
  • Complete meal setup, service, and cleanup within scheduled hours
Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday
  • Typical hours: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (may vary based on site needs)
  • Schedule coordinated with Site Manager
Compensation
  • $15 per hour for up to 2 hours per day/up to $600 per month
  • Payment issued by the last business day of each month upon invoice submission
  • No additional reimbursements unless pre-approved in writing
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Valid ServSafe Food Handler Certification (required prior to start or within 7 business days)
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow structured meal plans and instructions
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently under site supervision
Additional Requirements
  • Must pass a drug screening, background check, and sexual offender registry check
  • Must maintain active food safety certification throughout contract period
  • Must carry general liability insurance (proof may be required)
Work Arrangement

This is an independent contractor position. The selected individual will not be considered an employee of DSIS and is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and related obligations.
