About the Team
The Global Food team is responsible for designing, operating, and scaling OpenAI's food program across offices worldwide. The team partners closely with Workplace, Finance, Real Estate & Workplace (REW), vendors, and technical teams to deliver a high-quality, hospitality-driven employee experience while building the systems, processes, and operational infrastructure needed to support OpenAI's rapid global growth. The team also leads operational integrations for acquisitions, ensuring newly acquired teams are successfully onboarded into OpenAI's food program standards and operating models.
About the Role
As a Global Food Operations Specialist, you will support the execution and continuous improvement of OpenAI's global food program across multiple offices and regions. You'll help coordinate daily operations, support vendor performance and governance, manage operational reporting and systems, and contribute to the development of scalable processes that enable global growth. The ideal candidate combines strong operational execution with a hospitality mindset and a passion for using technology and automation to improve how work gets done.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. Some domestic and international travel may be required to support office launches, operational initiatives, and acquisitions integrations.
In this role, you will:
  • Support the day-to-day operations of OpenAI's global food program, partnering with vendors, office teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure consistent execution across regions.
  • Coordinate operational launches and transitions, including cafรฉs, meal delivery programs, new office openings, and food program integrations associated with acquisitions.
  • Track operational follow-ups, risks, escalations, and action items while maintaining clear communication and accountability across stakeholders.
  • Support vendor performance management through KPI tracking, reporting validation, operational reviews, and follow-through on agreed action plans.
  • Partner with Workplace Data & Technology teams to improve reporting, dashboards, operational systems, and AI-enabled workflows that increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, trackers, and governance processes that support consistent global program execution.
  • Help gather and analyze employee feedback, support food program communications, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the employee experience.
  • Identify operational gaps, process inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation or standardization, and help implement scalable solutions.

You might thrive in this role if you:
  • Have experience supporting operations, hospitality, workplace experience, program coordination, vendor management, or related functions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Are highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining strong follow-through.
  • Enjoy building structure within ambiguity and can effectively coordinate across diverse stakeholders and teams.
  • Have experience working with operational reporting, dashboards, KPIs, spreadsheets, or business systems to drive decision-making and accountability.
  • Are excited about AI, automation, and technology-enabled operations, and enjoy identifying opportunities to improve workflows and processes.
  • Bring a hospitality-first mindset and care deeply about delivering a high-quality employee experience.
  • Have experience supporting multi-site or global operations and collaborating across regions and cultures.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences and can influence outcomes through collaboration and data-driven insights.
