THE ROLE:
This role is in Ben & Jerry's Global Research, Design & Innovation (RD&I) team. The RD&I team develops and improves Ben & Jerry's super-premium ice cream portfolio, supporting renovation, innovation, value improvement, quality improvement and business continuity across markets.
This role supports the development of new flavors and product improvements, while helping deliver business continuity, material efficiency and cost-saving initiatives.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Develop product concepts, flavors, designs and formulations for new and existing products.
  • Prepare, evaluate and refine laboratory samples and product prototypes.
  • Support ingredient and supplier assessment, onboarding and approval processes.
  • Maintain product specifications, nutrition information and related technical documentation.
  • Plan and support lab, pilot plant and factory trials to enable successful product launches.
  • Support business continuity, cost savings, material efficiency and waste reduction work.
  • Provide clear project updates to technical, marketing and cross-functional partners.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to execute projects from concept through launch.
  • The role requires strong organization and follow-through, including the ability to manage five or more active projects across multiple regions while also supporting day-to-day RD&I work.


WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO...
Can build strong working relationships across Ben & Jerry's and TMICC, partnering effectively while helping protect and advance Ben & Jerry's connected three-part mission. The ideal candidate is passionate about food and curious about ingredients, flavors and consumer experiences. They should be able to combine ingredients in creative, practical ways that support product quality, differentiation and consumer appeal. Culinary training is a plus, but not required.
Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the food industry, with hands-on experience in product development, product formulation or technical project execution.
  • Experience preparing and evaluating product samples, prototypes or trial materials using structured feedback and documented results.
  • Ability to maintain accurate technical documentation, including product specifications, ingredient information and nutrition-related data.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and communicate clear updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to partner with brand, marketing, supply chain and RD&I teams to understand consumer needs and translate them into product work.
  • Comfort working with data, product specifications and digital tools; experience with PLM, Innoplan, BLUE or similar systems is a plus.
  • Ice cream or frozen dessert product development experience is preferred, but not required.

Travel requirements
It is anticipated that the candidate may be required to support factory trials in Vermont and possibly additional factories within the US. Frequency will vary, but usually 6-8 times per year.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $71,400 to$107,200.The Magnum Ice Cream Company (TMICC)takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
