Under a major Intelligence Community contract, IAP operates and maintains facilities, systems, and associated grounds across Virginia and Maryland. Services provided include comprehensive facility operations; project management for renovations, minor construction, and major equipment repairs; engineering, construction, and operations support; custodial and grounds maintenance services; environmental, safety, and occupational health support; food services; motorpool and logistics operations; and physical and technical security services.
As the Mechanical Engineer, you will be designing, analyzing, and implementing mechanical systems and components that enhance the performance, reliability, and safety of advanced intelligence and defense technologies. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with innovative problem-solving to deliver solutions in a fast-paced, classified environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Design, develop, and analyze mechanical systems, components, and assemblies in support of intelligence and national security missions.
  • Conduct engineering assessments, failure analyses, and performance evaluations to ensure system integrity and operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, and program managers, to integrate mechanical solutions into complex systems.
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, schematics, and CAD models.
  • Apply advanced problem-solving techniques to troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend design improvements.
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical systems under controlled and operational environments.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable standards, safety regulations, and mission requirements.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Experience working in classified or high-security environments is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing techniques, robotics, or unmanned systems.
  • Knowledge of thermal, structural, or fluid system simulations.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and systems engineering processes.
