Job description

Based in New York, NY, Joel Isaacson & Co. serves successful executives, business owners, professionals and high net worth families. The firm's services include: investment and cash flow management, estate and tax planning and preparation, insurance planning and retirement planning. Mr. Isaacson and his colleagues are frequently named to lists of America's Top Financial Advisors by several publications, including Worth magazine and Medical Economics.

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Tax Associate. Our Tax Practice focuses on tax business planning, advisory & compliance services for ultra-wealthy families and multi-generational wealth planning. The group specializes in the taxation of gifts, trusts, estates, foundations, closely held entities, and individual returns.

This is a hybrid position: 2 days in office / 3 days remote.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates thorough technical knowledge of accounting standards and reporting standards in researching, completing, and reviewing technical areas.
  • Identifies tax risk management issues and proposes potential solutions through research and collaboration with the Engagement Partner
  • Review tax procedures, engagement workpapers, and financial statements without supervision
  • Addresses questions on advanced technical accounting matters from team members and upper-level client management
  • Advanced-level tax preparation skills
  • Manages multiple assignments inside an engagement
  • Communicate with Partner on work status and client issues that arise
  • Conducts research, consults with team members, draws conclusions, and prepares memos based on target issues
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable accounting software (e.g. ProSystem Tax, Engagement, etc.)
  • Top review of returns, workpapers, and issues
  • Primary client contact and liaison for complex issues that staff are unable to resolve; communicate effectively with clients and develop positive relationships with client personnel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Accounting is required
  • 8+ years' of relevant work and industry experience within High Net Worth/Family Office taxation
  • Prior experience managing engagements and clients
  • Ability to work independently, but also work well with others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Taxation
  • CPA / EA License a must
  • Software Experience - CCH ProSystem, Microsoft Office 365

This position is an exempt position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $100,000-$150,000 base salary compensation range. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k).
