Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Fiber Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks across multiple job sites. This role requires extensive travel to various locations, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards. The technician follows all safety protocols and industry best practices while working on-site and during transit, contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality network services.
This is a full-time, site-based position requiring extensive travel across multiple locations throughout the continental United States. Additional incentives are provided in accordance with company guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Installation of fiber splice enclosures
  • Outside plant fiber optic cable slicing, to include both loose tube fiber and ribbon fiber
  • Fusion Splicing
  • Unidirectional and bidirectional fiber testing
  • Light Level Testing, OLTS
  • Fiber troubleshooting and repair, test report generation.
  • Coordinate daily crew activities and work schedule
  • Maintaining a safe and quality work site and location
  • Maintain Fiber equipment and tools
  • Daily inspection of all equipment assigned to crew
  • Maintain daily production rates
  • Ensure work is conducted in a safe manner and according to company safety and OSHA practices

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum age: 18+
  • 3-5 years of experienced preferred but will consider less based on Fiber Experience
  • Knowledge of industry testing equipment - OTDR, OLTS, Fluke, Etc.
  • Category cable termination and testing a plus
  • BICSI, CORNING, FOA CFOT, OSHA Certification a Plus
  • Travel required
