Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility, ensuring all systems function efficiently and meet water quality standards. The Operator will work closely with the 1st Operator to complete daily tasks, perform lab testing, and help maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Saturday work is required as part of routine operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, including oiling machines and replacing worn parts.
  • Assess and repair equipment promptly, coordinating outside repairs when necessary.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance manuals.
  • Conduct safety checks on emergency equipment (e.g., eyewash stations and showers).
  • Replace bag filters for the Main Well and Well #1.
  • Clean DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) lines weekly on Saturdays.
  • Assist with facility grounds maintenance-mowing in summer and shoveling walkways in winter.
  • Learn and perform basic pretreatment plant processes.
  • Take meter readings and calculate totals.
  • Operate and clean the DAF machine as required.
  • Monitor sludge production and coordinate proper disposal.
  • Communicate maintenance needs and equipment issues effectively.
  • Mix and adjust chemical polymers to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Conduct basic lab testing to verify water quality standards are met.
Required Qualifications
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment plant processes.
  • Basic algebra and measurement skills.
  • 1 year of maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience with various motor and pump types.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills for motors and lighting.
  • Experience in repairing or replacing piping systems.
  • Previous wastewater experience preferred but not required.
Language Skills
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to complete and maintain required reports and documentation in English.
