Job description

Senior Floral Event Designer
Rachel Cho Floral Design | Long Island City, NY
Compensation: $80,000-$100,000 depending on experience
The Role
You're equal parts designer and trusted advisor. Clients look to you not just for beautiful florals, but for clarity, confidence, and vision. You're as comfortable building a mood board and refining a proposal at your desk as you are leading an installation on-site.
This is a senior-level position for an experienced designer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited to be part of a growing creative studio. Much of the work is conceptual and planning-focused - developing design visions, building detailed proposals, and collaborating with clients and our team. But when it's install day, you're ready to be in the thick of it.
About Us
Rachel Cho Floral Design is a New York-based luxury floral studio where imagination meets refinement. We create immersive, artful environments - from intimate celebrations to large-scale sculptural installations - driven by intention, elegance, and a deeply cultivated design sensibility.
What You'll Do
Design & Concept Development
  • Develop design concepts, mood boards, floral recipes, and proposals that bring client visions to life within our studio's aesthetic
  • Translate creative ideas into clear, actionable design decks, production plans, and budgets
  • Conceptualize high-end floral events and installations with a strong command of color, texture, seasonality, scale, and form
Collaboration & Client Process
  • Collaborate with clients and our team throughout the design process - from early conversations through execution
  • Contribute to a thoughtful, seamless client experience from inquiry to installation
  • Coordinate closely with vendors, venues, and internal teams to ensure smooth production and delivery
Production & Installation
  • Develop detailed floral recipes and cost breakdowns to support budgeting, sourcing, and production
  • Support and lead on-site installations, ensuring every detail is intentional and beautifully realized
  • Balance creative ambition with operational thinking - managing budgets, timelines, and logistics with precision
Who You Are
  • 3+ years of experience designing florals in a high-end event, hospitality, or design-forward setting
  • Equally imaginative and analytical - comfortable moving between creative vision and spreadsheets
  • A calm, clear communicator who works well across teams and with clients
  • Proficient in Excel (budgets, recipes, production planning), PowerPoint/Canva (presentations), and digital communication tools (Slack, WhatsApp, email)
  • Deeply passionate about flowers, design, and creating meaningful, elevated experiences
Strongly Encouraged
  • Prior experience in the floral industry, particularly event or large-scale installation work
  • Familiarity with seasonal sourcing, stem counts, pricing, and production logistics
  • A portfolio of previous floral and event work (digital format preferred)
Physical & Work Requirements
This role involves a mix of desk-based design work and hands-on production. On installation days, you'll stand, walk, bend, and lift (up to 30 lbs) for extended periods that can exceed 8-10 hours. Flexibility for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules is required. Local travel to venues, warehouses, and client sites is part of the role.
How to Apply
Submit your resume and a brief cover letter in your own voice. Tell us about a project you're proud of and what excites you about this opportunity.
