Job description

The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting a small team within a primary care clinic setting. This position involves direct patient interaction by preparing patients, managing appointments, EKG, and assisting with examinations, while ensuring the clinical environment is safe and efficient. The assistant will manage electronic health records using Cerner and occasionally travel between facilities as needed.

13 Week Contract with the option to extend

Monday - Friday 8 am - 5pm (No Weekends)

Floating to Sister Clinic: La Verne, CA - REQUIRED

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Measure and record vital signs accurately
  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments
  • Collect specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Educate patients on treatment protocols and health maintenance
  • Manage patient information using Cerner electronic health records system
  • Ensure sterilization and sanitation of medical instruments and work areas
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in medical assisting
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Knowledge of EKG procedures
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) management, especially Cerner
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology
  • Excellent patient communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work collaboratively within a small team
