Job description

SPR Packaging, LLC founded in 2006 by a team of experienced flexible packaging managers and associates to fill a niche in the market for customer-oriented manufacturing and service. Dedication to our customers has earned us a great reputation and impressive growth since the company’s inception.

We are looking for Ink Technicians to join our team! As an Ink Technician you will perform technical tasks pertaining to daily ink room management and operation in a Flexographic printing facility under the direction of the In-house Manager.

We are looking for an individual with good communication skills that can build/maintain good interdepartmental relationships.

12-hour Night shift 5:30am to 5:30pm ** TRAIN ON DAYS FOR 3 WEEKS ** 

TRANSFER TO NIGHTS 5:30pm-5:30am 

Wednesday-Friday, every other Saturday OR Sunday-Tuesday, every other Saturday (days of the week will swap every six months).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates job set up for presses.
  • Formulates inks as required with the use of ink formulation software.
  • Blends inks as required by operating an ink dispenser or weighing by hand.
  • Maintains inventory control standards.
  • Organizes inks for press runs.
  • Returns inks from press to appropriate area.
  • Performs press-side color matching.
  • Manage returned inks and assist in changeovers.

Requirements

  • Experience working with solvent ink is preferred.
  • Color matching ability and knowledge of inks and substrates are preferred.
  • Experience with Flexographic printing is preferred.
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, communications skills, and demonstrated initiative in problem solving/troubleshooting required.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operating.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand up to 12 hours.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Work well alongside the press operators and assistants as a team.
  • When inks become inactive, work-off into black ink or some other color, if possible

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work experience in the printing industry.
  • Experience in Ink / Press Department as an Operator assistant.
