Job description

Clinical Nursing Coordinator

Hope Clinic is seeking a flexible, mission-driven Clinical Nursing Coordinator to support and strengthen clinic operations and patient care at our Westland location. This part-time role blends hands-on clinical responsibilities with volunteer training, administrative coordination, and quality improvement—ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning and consistent, compassionate patient care.

This position is expected to work 16 to 20 hours per week, on-site at the Wayne Clinic location. Hours are Tuesday and Friday 8:30 to 4:30, and up to two (2) Saturdays (half days) per month.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Patient Services

  • Retrieve consult notes, lab and imaging results from outside systems and place in patient chart for next physician
  • Review labs, forward abnormal labs, review imaging results and assign to appropriate clinician
  • Respond to patient calls for test results or test questions
  • Respond to volunteer questions regarding patient care, charting, equipment use, follow-up appointments or testing
  • Coordinate and follow up on referrals
  • Manage applications of MAP benefits and distribution of medications for patients
  • Follow-up on virtual clinician visits for all post visit tasks: completing and mailing labs, imaging requisitions, prescription call-ins, and patient instructions, and scheduling next appointment

General Clinic Support

  • Interview, onboard, and train clinic rooming volunteers
  • Ensure staffing of all CA shifts
  • Provide back up for rooming staff and volunteers
  • Validate required clinical credentials for all clinic volunteers
  • Coordinate CPR training for volunteers and staff
  • Provide training for OSHA standards
  • Quality checks on A1c, BP machines, and glucometers
  • Stock and monitor clinic and exam room supplies; assign tasks to volunteers
  • Oversee maintenance of medical equipment used in clinic to ensure functionality
  • Sanitize and sterilize used sterile devices
  • Order clinic supplies and maintain records of invoices sent/received
  • Ensure OSHA compliance for AED maintenance, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all chemicals used in clinic, blood borne pathogen processes and sterilization of equipment used in clinic
  • Create and update clinical policy and procedures
  • Oversee chart review and "out takes"
  • Maintain ER box and respond to emergencies in the building
  • Routine reporting as required

Donations

  • Monitor and approve/deny medication donations offered to Wayne Clinic
  • Log donations into Quickbase and complete donation form if applicable
Qualifications:
  • BSN and current RN license required
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience; experience in chronic disease management preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Sharepoint)
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records
  • Operational and case management experience strongly desired
  • Supervisory or volunteer coordination experience a plus
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort working with diverse populations
  • High degree of flexibility to navigate changing needs, priorities, and clinic settings
