Job description

What you will do:

Make mechanical repairs on plant and quarry equipment, install new or replacement equipment.  Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment.

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant and quarry equipment.
  • Remove and replace defective parts or components.
  • Operate welding equipment necessary to repair equipment.
  • Perform operational checks of equipment after repairs are made.
  • Use blueprints, manuals and other directions needed to troubleshoot and correct reported discrepancies.
  • Ensure that work orders and other paperwork are completed and filed.
  • Requisition parts and supplies, as needed.
  • Must work in high places and under adverse conditions.
  • Work in conjunction with cranes.
  • Will maintain a safe working environment, adhere to safety policies and practices, perform daily housekeeping of assigned area, perform daily workplace inspections, adhere to plant policies and proper use of plant radios.
  • Be familiar with MSHA safety rules, safety procedures for plant mobile equipment, lockout/Tagout policy, confined space permit policy, hot work policy, emergency response plan, arc flash/shock and burn protection, proper containment and disposal process (via Waste Management Plan) for lubricants, paints/solvents and other environmentally sensitive materials.
  • Ensure quality of work performed, participate in continuous improvement system, observe and promote best practices, good time management and be able to troubleshoot/analyze root cause failure.
  • Will work where and when needed as directed by plant supervisory personnel to meet plant needs.

Experience & abilities you will need:

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Three to five years of cement plant knowledge.
  • Trade school or vo-tech with emphasis on welding, hydraulics and general maintenance procedures
  • Thoroughly familiar with plant layout and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • High School education or equivalent basic mathematical skills.
  • Good physical condition as position may require bending, kneeling, walking, standing, climbing, stairs and lifting; high degree of manual dexterity and coordination and good eye/hand coordination.
