Job Description
SUMMARY:
This role allows an individual to learn and or increase their knowledge and physical skills as a maintenance professional. Individual will perform tasks and assignments for rehabilitation-related construction projects, with an assigned contractor trainer, work crew and/or in conjunction with other construction contractors and all other personnel allocated to the project.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:Performs a variety of maintenance and/or carpentry tasks, including, but not limited to:
  • Doors and Door Hardware-Frames, doors, hinges, lock-sets, exit devices and closures
  • Flooring-Prep work to install sub-flooring, ceramic, wood, vinyl and VCT tile
  • Drywall-Installation of drywall to interior and exterior walls
  • Cabinetry-Installation of cabinets to fit different dimensions for kitchen and bathrooms
  • Trim/Mill Work- Create and apply wood casing, baseboard trim, crown molding and arches over doors and windows
  • Electrical (finishing)-Perform basic electrical skills of installing electrical outlets, GFI plugs, switches, ceiling fans and light fixtures
  • Plumbing (finishing)-Perform basic plumbing skills of repair/install of toilet seat/toilet, faucet and drain repairs, understand hot/cold water lines, tub repair, water tanks and repair of plumbing leaks
  • HVAC-Minor heating skills of changing filters, light furnace pilot and install of heat registers
  • Painting-Perform basic painting using different types of pain brushes and rollers for application to different surfaces while protecting contents and flooring
  • Window Installation-Perform general window installation
  • Demolition-Ability to identify basic abatement abatement concerns and salvage removal (interior/exterior)
  • Landscaping-Ability to obtain basic knowledge of ground maintenance

Requirements
Mental and physical ability to perform essential job functions without any health restrictions, including the ability to sit, stand, be capable of climbing extension ladders, working at heights, lifting a maximum of sixty pounds unassisted and one hundred pounds assisted, working in restricted areas such as crawlspaces and attics for long periods of time, and wearing safety equipment as required by OSHA.

  • Must be 18 years of age and a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have a valid driver's license, insurance and reliable transportation
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor always
  • Strictly adhere to policies regarding substance use and arrive at project/office location(s) free from the influence of any substances
  • Demonstrate responsible behavior and judgment in all work-related activities
  • Must have ability to follow instructions

Skill Set
Ability to: - Utilize hand and power equipment to perform basic construction work effectively - Establish effective working relationships with Field Manager, Contractors, Other Team Members and Professionals - Communicate Effectively - Work comfortably at heights equivalent to two or three stories while wearing the appropriate OSHA-approved safety equipment - Ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs. without assistance
