Job description

We’re seeking a skilled, dependable, and proactive Fleet Mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment and vehicles running at peak performance. This role is ideal for someone who doesn’t just fix problems as they happen, but actively works to prevent breakdowns, extend equipment life, and improve overall fleet reliability

You’ll be based out of our dedicated shop, equipped with a large bay door, welding equipment, air compressors, and more. The role includes preventative maintenance, diagnostics, field repairs, and occasional fabrication projects across our fleet of gas/diesel trucks, trailers, and landscaping equipment.

Timberline Landscapes is a full-service, family-owned design/build and maintenance landscape contractor serving the St. Louis metro area. With over 20 years of experience, Timberline specializes in transforming outdoor spaces into high-quality, custom environments that clients love. Our reputation is built on trust, professional service, craftsmanship, and a genuine commitment to making our team — and our clients — feel valued.

Key Responsibilities

● Perform regular and proactive preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and landscaping equipment to reduce downtime

● Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair gas and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and related components

● Respond to service calls and perform field repairs when needed

● Maintain accurate maintenance records and proactively schedule inspections and service intervals

● Use technology systems (Aspire and Azuga) to track equipment, maintenance schedules, and service history

● Manage and coordinate license plate renewals, inspections, and related compliance items

● Order and manage parts and shop supplies

● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment

● Support welding, fabrication, and custom shop projects when time allows

● Communicate with leadership and field teams to prioritize repairs and minimize equipment downtime

● Assist with snow and ice management equipment during winter operations

We’re Looking For

● 2–3+ years of mechanic experience (fleet, diesel, or heavy equipment strongly preferred)

● A proactive, self-starter mindset focused on preventing issues before they happen

● Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on, can-do approach

● Ability to work independently and manage priorities without constant supervision

● Comfort using digital tools and systems for tracking and maintenance (Aspire and Azuga experience a plus)

● Valid driver’s license required (CDL Class A is a plus, but not required)

Nice to Have

● Experience with fleet tracking or maintenance platforms (Azuga, Aspire, or similar systems)

● Welding and fabrication experience

● ASE or other relevant certifications (preferred, not required)

● Own set of tools (preferred, not required)

Compensation & Benefits

● Competitive pay: $22–$30/hour depending on experience and skill level

● Health, dental, and vision insurance available

● Life insurance

● Simple IRA retirement plan

● Consistent year-round work

● Opportunity to grow with a company that values initiative and accountability

● Be part of an energetic, growing team with a strong reputation in the St. Louis market
