POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Financial Management Bureau, reporting to the Grants section. This is a full-time position that works closely with FDLE's financial information and is responsible for ensuring that grant financial data is accurately transacted and reported. This position requires a strong ability to analyze data and conduct independent research to ensure grant funds are used appropriately.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Reviewing expenditures on assigned grants against the grant's budget to determine eligibility;
  • Preparing monthly grant claims;
  • Preparing all necessary reports relating to the grants;
  • Researching, calculating, and recording all necessary Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) entries;
  • Reconciling claims filed to the FLAIR expenditures and revenue;
  • Reconciling FLAIR cash;
  • Developing working relationships with program members and resolve issues independently;
  • Coordinating a monthly review of expenditure claims with the grant managers;
  • Ensuring compliance with special conditions and limitations of the grant; and
  • Ensuring proper assignment of grant positions in People First.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication;
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures;
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
  • Ability to use computer software skills, including BEGINNER skills in database/spreadsheet software, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Ability to research and find errors in reconciliation of expenditures and cash reports;
  • Knowledge of the Florida Accounting Information Resource System (FLAIR); and
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data.

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. The elements of a background include: financial credit check, criminal history of applicant and applicant's immediate family or roommates, personal references, employment and education verifications (which includes official transcript(s)), drug screen and fingerprinting.  This information will be utilized to make the final hiring decision.

 

NOTES:

Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
