What is a fixed operations manager?

A Fixed Operations Manager oversees the service, parts, and sometimes the body shop departments in an automotive dealership. Their primary responsibilities include managing daily operations, ensuring high customer satisfaction, increasing profitability, and maintaining efficient workflow in these departments. They work closely with service advisors, technicians, and parts staff to coordinate repairs, maintenance, and parts sales. Effective Fixed Operations Managers also focus on staff training, process improvement, and meeting performance targets for the dealership.

How does a fixed operations manager typically collaborate with other departments within a dealership?

A Fixed Operations Manager works closely with the service, parts, and sometimes body shop departments to ensure smooth workflows and consistent customer satisfaction. They often coordinate with the sales department to align service promotions or resolve customer concerns that span multiple areas. Regular meetings and clear communication with department heads are common, facilitating unified goals and addressing operational challenges. This collaborative approach helps maximize efficiency, drive profitability, and support overall dealership success.

To thrive as a Fixed Operations Manager, you need a solid background in automotive service operations, inventory management, and customer service, typically supported by experience in dealership environments and sometimes a degree in business or automotive management. Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS), repair order software, and manufacturer certification programs is highly valuable. Leadership, problem-solving, and strong communication skills help motivate teams and ensure customer satisfaction. These skills are essential for optimizing service department efficiency, driving revenue growth, and maintaining high customer loyalty in a competitive market.

Job description

Ford & CDJR Store Director

Veero Ford & Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram – Morris, MN

Compensation: $100,000–$130,000 per year

Job Type: Full-Time

We Are Not Looking for Average

Veero Ford & Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is looking for a proven, hands-on dealership operator who wants responsibility, accountability, and the opportunity to make a measurable impact.

We need a Store Director who can desk and close deals, take TOs, create traffic from the CRM, drive new and used vehicle performance, develop the sales team, manage inventory, improve F&I performance, and work alongside Service and Parts leadership to improve total dealership profitability.

If you create opportunities, develop people, understand the numbers, solve problems, and hold people accountable, we want to talk with you.

For the right candidate, this is a General Manager succession-track opportunity within the growing Veero Automotive Group.

What You'll Be Responsible For Sales, Desking & Variable Operations
  • Actively desk deals, structure payments, take TOs, and help close customers.
  • Lead daily New and Used Vehicle Sales operations.
  • Protect gross while driving volume and maintaining a strong closing percentage.
  • Coach salespeople on negotiation, presentation, follow-up, and closing.
  • Hold the sales team accountable for daily activity and results.
  • Monitor showroom traffic, leads, appointments, write-ups, TOs, and closing ratios.
  • Manage Ford and Stellantis sales objectives, incentives, inventory, and aging.
  • Oversee used-vehicle acquisition, appraisal, pricing, merchandising, aging, and turn.
  • Make timely decisions on aged and underperforming inventory.
  • Drive fast, disciplined used-vehicle reconditioning and frontline readiness.
CRM & Traffic Generation

We expect our Store Director to create traffic — not simply wait for fresh leads and walk-ins.

  • Build and manage a daily CRM process that generates appointments, showroom traffic, trades, vehicle acquisitions, and sales.
  • Hold salespeople accountable for outbound calls, texts, emails, and follow-up.
  • Work fresh leads, unsold traffic, missed appointments, lost leads, previous customers, orphan customers, and equity opportunities.
  • Mine the existing database for customers who may be ready to trade, upgrade, buy, or sell us their vehicle.
  • Work with Service to generate sales and acquisition opportunities from the service drive.
  • Monitor appointment set, show, and sold ratios.
  • Measure success based on appointments created, customers shown, vehicles acquired, and vehicles sold — not simply calls made.
F&I Performance
  • Partner with Finance to improve F&I PVR, product penetration, lender performance, and overall profitability.
  • Ensure strong sales-to-F&I turnovers.
  • Help structure difficult finance and credit situations.
  • Maintain accountability for clean deals and timely funding.
Fixed Operations Involvement

This is not strictly a Variable Operations position.

The Store Director will work directly with our Service Director and Parts Manager to improve Fixed Operations performance and overall dealership profitability.

You do not need to personally run every department. You do need to understand the numbers, ask the right questions, identify problems, and hold department leaders accountable for results.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of automotive dealership management experience preferred.
  • Strong background as a Sales Manager, Used Car Manager, GSM, Store Director, or General Manager.
  • Ford and/or Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ramdealership experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Ford and Stellantis OEM programs, incentives, inventory, and performance objectives is a significant plus.
  • Strong hands-on desking and deal-structuring ability required.
  • Proven ability to take TOs, work directly with customers, and close deals.
  • Proven ability to use a CRM and customer database to create traffic and incremental sales.
  • Strong used-vehicle acquisition, appraisal, pricing, aging, and inventory-management skills.
  • Working knowledge of F&I performance, PVR, product penetration, and deal structure.
  • Working knowledge of Fixed Operations and Service and Parts KPIs.
  • Ability to read and understand dealership financial statements preferred.
  • Strong recruiting, coaching, communication, and leadership skills.
  • High sense of urgency, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Desire to develop into a complete dealership General Manager.
General Manager Succession Track

We are looking for someone who wants to become a complete dealership operator — not simply remain a Sales Manager or GSM.

The Store Director will work directly with the Dealer Principal and receive exposure to:

  • Dealership financial statements
  • Variable and Fixed Operations
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Cash-flow and expense management
  • Inventory management
  • OEM relationships
  • Strategic dealership planning
  • Advanced GM-level financial and leadership development
  • Opportunity for dealership-sponsored NCM or NADA General Manager Academy training for the right candidate based on performance and career progression

As Veero Automotive Group grows, the successful Store Director will be considered for future General Manager opportunities.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $100,000–$130,000 annual compensation, commensurate with experience and performance
  • College degree opportunity at no cost for eligible employees and immediate family members
  • Opportunity for dealership-sponsored NCM or NADA General Manager Academy training
  • Direct mentorship from dealership ownership
  • GM-level financial and leadership development
  • Clear path toward future General Manager opportunities
  • Career advancement within a growing automotive group
  • Opportunity to work with both Ford and Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram franchises
