POSITION SUMMARY The Fixed Assets Accountant is responsible for all aspects of PP&E accounting related to assigned MPLX companies, including capital project tracking and investing assets. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Work with project teams to gather information needed to invest capital project costs and begin depreciation. Create and manage settlement rules to move costs from assets under construction to final assets. Perform detailed analysis of major projects to allocate costs to correct asset class for each unit of property. Reconcile subledger and non-subledger accounts to general ledger. Perform asset retirements and transfers as required. Prepare monthly journal entries as needed. Assist with various reporting requirements such as annual FERC reporting, monthly capital expenditures, and project overrun reports. Answer and resolve internal and external audit inquiries. Maintain desktop procedures to document mechanics of critical processes. Ensure transactions are recorded, documented, and reviewed in accordance with company policies, SOX controls, and FERC regulations. Use established procedures while performing assigned tasks but apply judgment in carrying out the procedures. Perform other tasks as directed by Fixed Assets Lead and Fixed Assets Accounting Manager. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in accounting. Minimum 2 years accounting experience. SAP or large ERP experience preferred (specifically within a subledger).
