Job Summary
Responsible for assisting in all aspects of running a Division I Softball program including, but not limited to game preparation, teaching and coaching; practices and player conditioning; recruitment and retention of student-athletes; program administration; academic integrity; and donor and alumni public relations and youth programs. In addition, the assistant coach is responsible for abiding by all governing rules and regulations of KSU, USG, NCAA, and the conference to ensure departmental compliance.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -
1. Assists with creation and implementation of effective match, practice, and conditioning plans for the student-athletes
2. Works with Head Coach to develop effective drills and strategies for player improvement and assist and/or monitor strength and conditioning programs as needed
3. Provides hitting development and instruction on an individual and team basis, utilizes hitting technology to develop individual hitters and throws live arm batting practice
4. Assists with recruitment of the best student-athlete within the admissions, financial and regulatory standards and policies established by the KSU,CUSA and NCAA
5. Maintains a comprehensive recruiting database system, assists with the identification of potential student-athletes, and arranges and prepares on-campus visits
6. Assists with administrative responsibilities of the Softball program in an efficient and responsible manner
7. Ensures fiscal responsibility by adhering to the program's budget within KSU and KSUAA guidelines
8. Assists in the monitoring and verification of program related expenditures, revenues and travel arrangements and finances
9. Works with various areas of the department (equipment room, facilities, etc.) to ensure proper communication of schedules and other needs
10. Assists external relations and development staff with program and department promotion and events
11. Assists media relations with media related requests
12. Assists ticket operations and game day managers with fan experience opportunities
13. Assists development with donor and alumni relations that may include fundraisers and special events
14. Abides by all conference, department, university, and NCAA regulations and assist to ensure departmental compliance
15. Attends all compliance seminars and reviews
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Associate's degree from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Current CPR Certification
Required Experience
Two (2) years relevant experience coaching in a post-secondary level program, professional athlete, professional tour participant or professional coach in a related sports program
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Experience coaching in one or more of the following areas; hitting, pitching, or defense
Experience working with technology as it pertains to video analysis, film breakdown, player evaluation, and performance development
Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches and athletic and university administration
Able to work flexible schedule, including early mornings, afternoons, evening, and weekends, as needed
Travel required
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Possesses a thorough knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, conference, State of Georgia and university policies, rules, and regulations
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the sport of softball required
Knowledge of effective coaching techniques and best practices
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
