Homelessness is the largest social and public health crisis in California. Illumination Foundation (IF) is a growing non-profit organization dedicated towards disrupting the cycle of homelessness by providing targeted, interdisciplinary services in our recuperative care centers, emergency shelters, housing services and children's and family programs. IF currently has 13+ facilities with 22+ micro-communities scattered across Orange County, Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire.
Job Description
The Cook 1 is responsible for assisting with all kitchen operations to ensure daily tasks are completed.
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00 per hour, depending on experience.
The schedule for this role will be Saturday and Sundays from 10:00AM to 6:30PM.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation of morning, afternoon and evening meals.
  • Assist with maintaining the kitchen to all Food Safety standards set by funders and The OC Health Care Agency.
  • Provide food during meal times
  • Assist with maintaining proper inventory of special dietary needs and supplies for the site.
  • Attend all meetings and training as requested.
  • Work with site staff to complete kitchen tasks as directed by the Cook/Kitchen Coordinator.
  • Ensures food ingredients are stored in their designated area and rotated in the proper manner.
  • Assist Cook/Kitchen Coordinator with weekly inventory as requested
  • Communicate client needs to Cook/Kitchen Coordinator
  • Work with and create a welcoming environment for volunteers.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area
  • Responsible for communicating client needs and reported complaints to direct supervisor.
  • Work in alignment with the company's Guiding Principles
  • Attain the goals as set forth by management. Seek and follow management coaching toward increased productivity.

Preferred Experience/Minimum Qualifications
Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a restaurant or catering setting
  • Some managerial/leadership experience
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to send and receive emails and summarize data in spreadsheets.
  • Valid CA Driver's License and eligibility for company vehicle insurance.

Preferred:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
