Job Summary
Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic School in University City is seeking a dedicated, creative, and faith-filled First Grade Teacher to join our vibrant Catholic learning community. The First Grade Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction that supports students' academic, spiritual, social, and emotional growth while fostering a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered classroom environment.
Job Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with diocesan and school curriculum standards.
  • Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into daily instruction and classroom routines.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment.
  • Support the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of first-grade students.
  • Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessments and communicate progress with families.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration to support student success and school initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and guardians.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school liturgies, and events.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities and transitions.
  • Uphold school policies and actively support the mission of Catholic education.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required.
  • Valid teaching certification preferred (or ability to obtain per diocesan requirements).
  • Prior elementary teaching experience preferred; experience in primary grades a plus.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of early elementary curriculum and instructional best practices.
