Job description

Pardes Jewish Day School seeks full-time First Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is an excellent opportunity to become a member of a community of highly qualified and dedicated thinkers, innovators, and leaders in their fields. The ideal candidate will inspire young people to be excited about learning. The successful candidate will have 1st grade level expertise as well as the ability to engage students in meaningful inquiry, problem solving, Project Based Learning, and collaborative exploration.

Essential Requirements, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred

  • Two to five years of experience preferred

  • Demonstrated commitment to equitable and inclusive practices, with respect to pedagogy, curriculum, instruction, and assessment

  • A strong understanding of the developmental and learning needs of lower school children. This includes teaching math, literacy, phonics, reading and writing workshop, comprehension, science, mindset, study skills, and social/emotional skills.

  • Ability to provide differentiated instruction for specific lessons, skills sets, and/or units of study.

  • Enjoy working with an innovative grade-level team to foster the emotional well being and academic success of students

  • Excellent classroom management

  • Ability to collaborate with other faculty, speciality teachers, staff, and administration

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Additionally, successful candidates should demonstrate:

  • A desire to work in a school that prizes excellence in academics while nurturing students to become lifelong learners.

  • An engaging teaching style

  • A strong desire to be part of an innovative, collaborative team to foster the emotional well being and academic success of students

  • Ability to create strong relationships with parents

  • Participation in all aspects of school life, including after-school coaching, club leadership, and enrichment programs (is preferred but not required)

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Able to appreciate working in a Jewish Day School

Other requirements:

  • Must be able to pass an initial fingerprint and background clearance check and maintain a valid fingerprint clearance card at all times when in the classroom.

  • May be required to work outside normal working hours.

  • May be required to travel to perform work functions.

  • May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
