Job Summary
Responsible for providing leadership, oversight and day-to-day management of the programs and operations of the Shooting Sports Education Center. This position will develop and implement firearms and archery programming, instruction, and competition for a wide range of skill levels to include first time to advanced.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, direct, supervise and evaluate firearms programming, instruction, special events and summer camps and develop strategies that drive growth, revenue, continuous improvement, safety and participant satisfaction
  • Manage operations of the Shooting Sports Education Center to include related equipment that leads to creating a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise and develop student employees in the operation of the Shooting Sports Education Center
  • Lead marketing and promotion efforts for all SSEC programs and services in various formats
  • Provide instruction/coaching in firearms and/or archery as needed and serve as rotating Rangemaster On Duty to include occasional nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Provide leadership as camp director for all camp programs to include, curriculum development, budgeting, marketing, execution, negotiating contracts with external coaches, and assessment of camps as well as administer all camp contracts
  • Maintain and utilize risk management best practices while maintaining industry standards for programming and operational procedures to include policies and procedures review and enforcement
  • Foster campus and community partnerships in support of programming and events including but not limited to Shooting Sports Club, Southern Clay Target Team, GS Dept. of Health Sciences and Kinesiology, Bulloch County Recreation & Parks, local high school rifle teams, GS Public Safety, Bulloch County 4-H, GAPPS, GISA, USCCA, CMP, GS Rifle, USA Shooting, Georgia Wildlife Federation - Academics Afield, etc.
  • Serve on university and departmental work team and committees

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in recreation, management, or a related field

Required Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • USCCA Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals Instructor or Training Counselor, USCCA Women's Handgun & Self-Defense Fundamentals Instructor
  • NRA Chief Range Safety Officer, Pistol or Rifle Certified Instructor or Training Counselor
  • Experience competing or instructing in the shooting sports
  • Experience in firearms range operations to include lead management
  • Experience in retail management
  • Experience hosting large-scale, successful archery and/or rifle tournaments
  • Experience working in an educational setting
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified instructor

Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master's Degree

Preferred Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience

Proposed Salary
$46,513 - $58,100
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
