Duties * You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT TECHNICIAN) in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES of COMMANDER, NAVY INSTALLATIONS COMMAND (N30). * You will serve as a Firefighter assigned to a crew engaged in the full range of firefighting and rescue operations. * You will provide basic emergency medical care and transportation. * You will assist in reducing and/or eliminating potential fire hazards to protect persons, property, or the environment following Navy established procedures and protocols. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade. 2) Performing rescue operations as a team member, and 3) Operating firefighting equipment such as fire alarm systems, fire extinguishing equipment, and other similar equipment. Education In lieu of specialized experience you may qualify at the GS-05 level with the following education substitute: Successful completion of a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study leading to a bachelor's degree; OR Have a combination of experience and education that equates to one year of experience.
