Title: Adjunct Faculty - Fire Science

Job Summary

Teach Fire Science Courses online using D2L Brightspace and in person on the Oak Ridge and Knoxville - Hayfield campuses.

Job Duties

  • Instruction and Student Engagement.
  • Assessment and Grading.
  • Student Support and Communication.
  • Adhere to Institutional policies and procedures.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System, Brightspace.
  • Follow state and federal fire science guidelines. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in fire science or a related field.
  • Hold a valid, Tennessee Fire Commission -Fire Instructor II Certification Academy Credentialed Instructor (ACI) in Introduction to Fire and Emergency Services and Basic Firefighting.
  • Successful completion of the TN Fire Commission FO120-Conducting Live Fire Evolutions Class.
  • Be familiar with IAFC/NFPS 1010.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Classroom, office, laboratory, and field-based instruction.
  • Physical ability to demonstrate or supervise fire service skills.
  • Use of personal protective equipment during training evolutions.
  • Travel to training sites, fire departments, or partner agencies.
  • Evening or weekend instruction as needed.
  • Compliance with all safety standards during practical and live training activities.
