Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fire Alarm Sales / Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for fire alarm systems in commercial, industrial, and residential projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to interpret blueprints and specifications. This role will also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with electrical and general contractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documentation to accurately determine scope and requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local contractors to identify new business opportunities and successfully close existing deals.
  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates for fire alarm systems, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Monitor and evaluate market pricing trends to ensure competitive positioning.
  • Maintain a pricing analysis system to track industry markups and adjust estimates accordingly to optimize profitability and win rates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams to ensure estimates align with project goals and client expectations.
  • Conduct site visits when necessary to assess conditions and gather data for accurate estimating.
  • Maintain and update estimating tools, databases, and cost histories.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
  • Assist in bid preparation and submission, including proposal writing and documentation.
  • Stay current with industry standards, codes, and technologies related to fire alarm systems.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as an estimator in the fire alarm or low-voltage industry.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, NFPA codes, and local regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick, or similar).
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software helpful

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Base Salary + Commissions = Total comp range of $100,000 to $200,000 annually

Schedule: 8 hour shift - Monday to Friday
