What is fintech implementation?

Fintech Implementation refers to the process of integrating financial technology solutions into existing business operations or launching new fintech products and services. This involves selecting appropriate technologies, customizing systems, migrating data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and training staff. The goal is to enhance efficiency, improve customer experience, and maintain security within financial services. Successful implementation requires collaboration between technical teams, business stakeholders, and regulatory experts. It is a critical step for organizations aiming to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving financial sector.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fintech implementation specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fintech Implementation Specialist, you need a solid background in financial services, project management, and technical integration, often supported by a degree in business, finance, or information technology. Familiarity with API integrations, CRM systems, digital payment platforms, and project management tools (such as Jira or Trello) is typically required, and certifications like PMP or Agile can be advantageous. Strong analytical thinking, effective communication, and problem-solving skills help professionals navigate client requirements and facilitate smooth product deployments. These skills ensure successful implementation of fintech solutions, leading to client satisfaction and streamlined financial operations.

What are some common challenges faced during the implementation of fintech solutions, and how can they be addressed?

Fintech Implementation professionals often encounter challenges such as integrating new technologies with legacy systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing stakeholder expectations. Successfully addressing these challenges requires clear communication with technical teams, thorough planning for data migration, and close collaboration with compliance departments to meet legal standards. Proactive risk assessments and regular updates with stakeholders can also help ensure smooth project delivery and minimize disruptions.

Is fintech a high paying career?

Fintech implementation roles often offer competitive salaries, especially for professionals with skills in software development, data analysis, and financial regulations. Salaries vary based on experience, location, and company size, but many positions in fintech are considered well-paying within the tech and finance industries.

Job description

About the job
Our mission
Boom is on a mission to level the playing field for the 110+ million renters in the US by making housing more flexible, affordable, and rewarding. Boom is building a suite of rental financial services for renters and property managers, including applicant underwriting, rent payment reporting, rent reporting-as-a-service, and a number of integrations with the largest property management systems (PMS). Boom serves renters through the Boom App and property managers via the Boom Platform. Now serving thousands of renters, Boom is led by second-time founder Rob Whiting (ex-BCG, Rubicon). It's backed by investors such as Starting Line, Clocktower Ventures, Mischief VC (CEO of Plaid Zach Perret's fund), Gilgamesh Ventures (Petal co-founders), and angels such as William Hockey CEO of Column, founder/former CTO of Plaid) and Harry Stebbings. Boom has been profiled by Inman, Business Insider, HousingWire, and more.
Opportunity
As a founding team member of our Strategy & Implementation team, you will help define and operationalize one of the most critical functions in Boom's next stage of growth. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where you'll partner directly with Boom's senior leadership, launch and scale programs for our most important enterprise customers, and lay the foundation for how we work with partners and drive strategic initiatives. You won't be handed a playbook-you'll write it. This is an ideal role for someone with a consulting background (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain) or similar experience in enterprise growth, operations, or strategy roles at high-growth companies. The position is based in our Austin office (near downtown).
What you'll do
  • Enterprise launches: Lead the onboarding and successful implementation of Boom's largest clients-setting strategy, owning execution, and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders from kickoff through post-launch success.
  • Program management: Act as the central owner for strategic partner programs, ensuring timelines, goals, and KPIs are met and communicated clearly across internal and external teams.
  • Partner edge cases & special projects: Take the lead on complex, ambiguous initiatives - whether that's scoping and analyzing a new GTM motion, solving operational bottlenecks, or working through one-off enterprise partner challenges.
  • Growth infrastructure: Help build the internal infrastructure that supports scale - this could include refining playbooks, developing reporting tools, or creating frameworks for account prioritization and resourcing.
  • Framework development & storytelling: Structure problems, analyze options, and synthesize insights into slides and narratives that drive action.
  • Relationship maximization: Proactively identify opportunities to optimize client use of our platform, driving engagement and adoption
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with sales, ops, product, engineering, and leadership to ensure alignment and velocity across all initiatives you own.
What you'll need
  • 3 - 6+ years in management consulting or equivalent strategic roles in high-growth B2B SaaS or fintech environments
  • Proven ability to own and deliver complex work-streams with limited oversight
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills-able to influence across seniority levels and functions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; highly comfortable working with structured data and creating executive-ready slides
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity, think from first principles, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Experience in proptech, fintech, or working with property management systems (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio) is a plus
Benefits of working at Boom
  • Competitive salary with stock options
  • Full healthcare coverage (health, dental, vision) including 50% coverage for dependents
  • 15 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year + 3 sick days + all US federal holidays (11 in total) (note: we think unlimited PTO is BS and causes some employees to feel guilty when they take it)
  • Company-issued laptop/MacBook
  • Company-sponsored training & development
  • Regular off-sites, retreats, and other company-sponsored events and travel opportunities
