Job Title

Cyber Security Engineer

About your role:

As a Cyber Network Engineer, you will design, assess, and enhance enterprise network security solutions while providing technical guidance on modern security capabilities and architecture. You will collaborate with engineers, architects, and technology teams to develop secure, scalable solutions across network security, cloud, Zero Trust, automation, AI-enabled security, IaC, Policy-as-Code, CI/CD, and hybrid-cloud environments. This role requires strong network and cloud security expertise to evaluate technical designs, identify risks, and recommend solutions that align with enterprise security standards.

What you'll do:

  • Review and assess enterprise network security architectures across internal networks, infrastructure services, cloud environments, and perimeter (DMZ) domains to ensure alignment with security standards, resiliency requirements, and architectural best practices.
  • Provide security engineering guidance for technologies including cloud-based proxy solutions, IDS/IPS, Network Detection and Response (NDR), DNS security, DDoS protection, IPAM, load balancing, microsegmentation, and Zero Trust architectures.
  • Contribute to the development and adoption of security standards, reference architectures, and reusable design patterns for infrastructure, cloud, and application services, leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), Policy-as-Code, and automation capabilities.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and provide security recommendations for technology initiatives, ensuring appropriate segmentation, visibility, threat detection, and preventive controls are incorporated into solution designs; develop and maintain clear, audit-ready documentation and provide technical guidance to engineering, governance, risk, audit, and compliance stakeholders.
  • Assess network, infrastructure, cloud, and application security risks and recommend risk-based mitigation strategies aligned with enterprise security requirements.
  • Partner with engineering, cloud, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to integrate security requirements into solution designs, automation initiatives, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Evaluate security telemetry, threat intelligence, AI-enabled security capabilities, and control effectiveness to identify security gaps, policy deviations, and emerging threats.
  • Support the continuous improvement of network security standards, governance processes, and architectural guidance through the adoption of cloud technologies, automation, and modern engineering practices.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 6+ years of experience in Information Security within Financial Institutions (or similarly regulated industries), with a focus on network security engineering and the implementation of enterprise security solutions.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat landscapes, modern attack techniques, and the use of automation and AI-enabled capabilities to improve security operations and threat detection.
  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise network environments, including knowledge of routing, switching, network protocols, and hybrid infrastructure architectures.
  • Experience assessing, implementing, and supporting security technologies, including firewalls, next-generation firewalls (NGFW), cloud-based proxy solutions, IDS/IPS, DNS security, DDoS protection, Network Detection and Response (NDR), load balancing, IPAM, microsegmentation, and Zero Trust architectures, as well as participating in architecture reviews, security assessments, and risk evaluations to identify security concerns and recommend appropriate mitigations.
  • Working knowledge of cloud technologies and services (Azure, AWS, GCP), including cloud-native security controls and hybrid network architectures.
  • Experience supporting Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and Policy-as-Code initiatives, leveraging automation, APIs, software development practices, and CI/CD pipelines to improve consistency, security, operational efficiency, and the integration of security requirements into modern delivery processes.
  • Strong understanding of business processes, internal controls, IT risk management, and regulatory requirements, with the ability to analyze technical designs, communicate security recommendations, and collaborate effectively with infrastructure, cloud, application, and security teams to implement secure solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education, professional experience, and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience in the financial services industry
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP Security, PCNSE, CCIE, or equivalent are preferred

How you'll work:

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.

Travel:

  • Approximately 10% travel off-site or to other office locations is expected.

Sponsorship:

  • You must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization to be considered for this role. Individuals with temporary visas including, but not limited to, F-1 (OPT, CPT, STEM), H-1B, H-2, or TN, or any candidate requiring sponsorship, now or in the future, will not be considered.
