What does finding candidates mean in the context of recruitment?

Finding candidates refers to the process of searching for and identifying individuals who are suitable for open job positions within an organization. This can involve sourcing candidates through various channels such as job boards, social media, employee referrals, and recruitment agencies. The goal is to build a pool of qualified applicants who match the skills, experience, and cultural fit required for the roles. Effective candidate finding is a critical part of the overall hiring process, helping organizations attract top talent and fill positions efficiently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a candidate sourcer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Candidate Sourcer, you need strong research abilities, familiarity with talent acquisition strategies, and experience using Boolean search, often supported by a background in human resources or recruiting. Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS), LinkedIn Recruiter, and various sourcing platforms is typical for this role. Excellent communication, persistence, and relationship-building skills help distinguish top performers in sourcing. These skills are crucial for efficiently identifying, engaging, and attracting high-quality candidates to meet organizational hiring needs.

Job description

Business Development Center Representative

We're building a brand-new Business Development Center and are looking for two outgoing, upbeat, and motivated individuals to join our team.

This is a full-time, in-office position for someone who enjoys talking to people, helping customers, and working in a goal-oriented environment. If you're ready to move beyond a traditional call center role and into a more relationship-focused sales position, this could be a great opportunity for you.

What You'll Do

  • Answer incoming customer inquiries
  • Qualify new sales leads
  • Schedule appointments directly with sales representatives
  • Learn our elevator, lift, and accessibility products
  • Prospect to architects, builders, contractors, and other professionals
  • Schedule sales meetings and Lunch & Learn presentations
  • Follow up with prospective customers and leads
  • Manage leads, appointments, and sales activity through our CRM
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and follow-up activities
  • Work toward individual and team performance goals

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Cheerful, friendly, and positive
  • A strong communicator and active listener
  • Patient and empathetic when working with customers
  • Self-motivated and driven
  • Comfortable speaking with customers over the phone
  • Curious and willing to learn our products and processes
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple follow-ups
  • Comfortable working toward performance goals and incentives
  • Proactive and willing to take initiative
  • Excited about helping build and shape a new department

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in any of the following is a plus:

  • Call center or contact center
  • Customer service
  • Inside sales
  • Business development
  • Appointment setting
  • Lead generation
  • Collections
  • Outbound or inbound calling
  • CRM or lead management systems

Direct elevator or accessibility-product experience is not required. We are more interested in finding candidates with the right personality, communication skills, work ethic, and willingness to learn.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to help build and shape a brand-new department from the ground up. We're looking for people who want to take ownership of their work, grow with the position, and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment.

  • Full-time, in-office position
  • Competitive base salary
  • Performance incentives
  • Opportunity for growth
  • Hands-on training and product education
  • Opportunity to develop sales and business development experience

If you enjoy talking to people, building relationships, and turning conversations into opportunities, we'd love to hear from you.
