About the role
The People Ops team is responsible for driving business results that help the company achieve its mission through a focus on optimizing the employee experience and developing talent management strategies. The People Ops structure includes areas that focus on talent acquisition and management, employee onboarding and development, workplace culture and employer branding, employee benefits and compensation, compliance with federal, state and local labor laws, and employee offboarding.
The People Ops Specialist is highly skilled in communication and administration. This role handles written and verbal employee queries with the utmost confidentiality. Responsibilities may also include but are not limited to partnering with the Payroll team, managing HRIS data and reporting, organizing new hire training sessions and events, assisting with the annual open enrollment process, and processing employee separations.
The People Ops Specialist must be able to deal with a variety of personalities and keep calm in tense situations - they should be approachable, fair, and have good multitasking abilities. Maintain an innate curiosity and a strong drive for continuous learning and professional growth.
What you'll do
  • Supports new employees by providing orientation, reviewing company policies, gathering new hire logistics, explaining benefit programs, and obtaining signatures for documents.
  • Processes employee changes in HRIS and Jira (job titles, comp changes, promotions, org/department structure, terminations, etc) and provides data to VP of People Ops.
  • Oversees employee benefits, FMLA, and ADA accommodations and compliance.
  • Communicates with benefit brokers, healthcare vendors and other external parties.
  • Updates company policies and ensures compliance with federal and state law.
  • Corresponds to employee inquiries in a timely manner, often as the first point of contact.
  • Maintains internal records, which may include preparing, issuing and filing company documentation (e.g. ACA filings, nondiscrimination testing, etc.).
  • Facilitates People Ops weekly team meetings.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in HR administrative role
  • Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including organizational change, employee relations, diversity, performance management, leave of absence administration
  • Flexibility, availability and ability to interact with employees at all levels
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • System-savvy (we use G-Suite, Rippling and Jira regularly)
