Description:

The Financial Systems Specialist is a key member of the Technology team, responsible for the administration, maintenance, enhancement, and support of the firm's financial systems, with a primary focus on Aderant Expert and related accounting applications. This role partners closely with Accounting, Legal Operations, and other business departments to ensure system reliability, optimize financial workflows, and deliver reporting and analytics solutions that support business objectives.


The Financial Systems Specialist serves as the primary technical resource for the firm's financial systems, providing day-to-day support, troubleshooting, system configuration, customizations, integrations, and reporting solutions, including dashboards, tiles, and business intelligence tools.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support the firm's Aderant financial management system and related financial applications.
  • Provide technical support for Aderant Expert and integrated financial systems, including Expert Billing & Collections, iTimekeep Time Entry, Paperless Pre-Bills, and SSRS reporting solutions.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize Aderant functionality and third-party software solutions to enhance operational efficiency and business processes.
  • Support and troubleshoot applications and integrations connected to the Aderant environment.
  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, tiles, reports, and other analytical tools to improve system usability and business insights.
  • Monitor and maintain financial system updates, maintenance schedules, backups, and recovery processes to ensure system stability and data integrity.
  • Coordinate with Aderant support and vendors by creating and managing support tickets, including issue escalation and resolution tracking.
  • Configure system enhancements, customizations, automations and new functionality while performing quality assurance, user acceptance testing, and regression testing in both test and production environments.
  • Collaborate with Legal Operations, Accounting, and Data Analytics teams to develop and maintain integrations between financial systems, databases, and third-party applications.
  • Analyze business requirements and recommend solutions that improve financial system performance, efficiency, and user adoption.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives and system enhancement projects that support the firm's growth and evolving business needs.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, procedures, and training materials to support end users and business processes.
  • Assist with special projects and technology initiatives related to financial systems and operational improvement.
  • Stay current with Aderant product enhancements, industry best practices, and emerging financial technology solutions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting Aderant financial systems, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Experience with Aderant Design Studio, including system configuration, automation, customization, and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial systems, controls, processes, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts, business requirements, and system issues effectively to end users, management, and key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve system-related issues efficiently.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build productive working relationships across departments and provide a high level of user support.
  • Skilled at translating technical information into clear, user-friendly language for non-technical audiences.
  • Highly adaptable and able to manage changing priorities, projects, and business needs in a fast-paced environment.
