We are seeking an exceptional Laboratory Manager to support a collaborative research environment spanning three active academic laboratories: the Bisson, Limoli, and van Kessel labs. This joint position offers a unique opportunity to work at the center of multiple research programs, helping coordinate operations, people, and resources across a diverse and high-performing scientific team.

Job Summary

The Research Associate will support the operational, administrative, and organizational needs of three jointly managed research laboratories. This role is centered on coordination-ensuring that scheduling, communication, logistics, and resource management are aligned across labs.
The position is ideal for a candidate who excels in managing complex systems, tracking multiple workflows, and supporting a dynamic research environment through strong organizational practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Organization
  • Develop and maintain organized systems for lab operations, including shared documents, calendars, and communication platforms
  • Ensure continuity and consistency in workflows across labs
  • Track tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities to support efficient lab functioning
  • Serve as the central liaison between labs and university administrative units (e.g., procurement, facilities, and safety offices)
Purchasing and Resource Tracking
  • Coordinate purchasing processes, including non-standard orders and vendor interactions
  • Track inventory levels and ensure availability of lab supplies
  • Monitor standing orders, service agreements, and software licenses
  • Maintain organized records of purchases, shipments, and equipment servicing
Coordination and Scheduling
  • Coordinate lab meetings and events
  • Maintain and manage calendars, room reservations, and scheduling systems
  • Organize retreats, seminars, and lab-wide events, including logistics and communications
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, reimbursements, and financial tracking for lab-related activities
Personnel Coordination
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring completion of required steps and access to resources
  • Coordinate schedules and logistics for visiting scholars and job candidates
  • Provide organizational support to lab members and facilitate clear communication across groups
  • Assist in resolving logistical challenges and maintaining a collaborative environment
Compliance and Lab Infrastructure
  • Coordinate safety protocols, inspections, and required documentation
  • Organize equipment maintenance, service scheduling, and lab upkeep activities
  • Maintain records related to lab operations, safety compliance, and shared resources
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific, administrative, or related field
  • Experience in a research, laboratory, or academic support environment
  • Strong organizational, coordination, and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
  • Experience supporting multiple teams, projects, or shared research environments

Working Conditions / Demands
