This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys variety, client interaction, and solving day-to-day accounting challenges. Unlike a traditional Accounting Manager position tied to one company, this role offers exposure to multiple businesses, industries, accounting systems, and leadership teams.
Candidates must be located in or willing to commute throughout the Portland metro area and surrounding markets, including Vancouver, Salem, and nearby communities.
What You'll Do
• Oversee full-cycle accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, billing, payroll support, and revenue recognition
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial reports
• Prepare and review income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
• Ensure accounting records and financial reporting follow GAAP and established accounting practices
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and variance analysis
• Research and resolve account discrepancies and accounting issues
• Improve accounting procedures, documentation, internal controls, and reporting processes
• Assist with audit requests, tax preparation, and external reporting requirements
• Work directly with Controllers, CFOs, business owners, and client leadership teams
• Provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff as needed
• Manage responsibilities across multiple client engagements, priorities, and deadlines
What We're Looking For
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• Five or more years of progressive accounting experience
• Previous Accounting Manager, Senior Accounting, or similar experience
• Strong full-cycle accounting and month-end close experience
• Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, or variance analysis
• Experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff preferred
• Experience across multiple industries or business environments is a plus
• Familiarity with systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar accounting platforms
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving abilities
• Comfortable working independently and communicating directly with clients and business leaders
• Willingness to travel to client locations throughout Portland, Vancouver, Salem, and surrounding areas
Why NOW CFO
• Work with a variety of clients, industries, and accounting systems
• Build broader accounting management and client-facing experience
• Make a direct impact on client accounting operations and financial reporting
• Solve new business challenges instead of repeating the same routine
• Develop experience working directly with Controllers, CFOs, and business owners
• Join a collaborative consulting team with opportunities for professional growth
This is an excellent opportunity for an Accounting Manager who wants greater variety, broader exposure, and the opportunity to make an impact across multiple organizations.
Apply today to grow your career with NOW CFO.
