Job description

Overview

Our Accounting and CFO Advisory Services (ACFO) department provides part time accounting, controller and chief financial officer services to start up companies and growing, established companies in the Bay Area. A Senior Associate in the ACFO department requires a combination of public accounting and industry experience.

This high profile position interacts with our internal team, and interfaces directly with external clients. This position is for a strong technical accounting and financial professional who thrives in an ever-changing environment.

This role can be based out of the Bay Area or San Diego area with a regular in-office presense in our San Francisco, San Jose or San Diego office.

Responsibilities

This position supports external clients with several activities (including but not limited to):

  • Closing books, monthly or quarterly
  • US GAAP financial reporting
  • Implementation of new accounting & reporting standards, international accounting and preparation of consolidated financial statements
  • Payroll processing
  • Revenue recognition
  • Equity accounting
  • Financial systems oversight, process improvement and oversight of internal controls
  • Staff training and development
  • Annual compliance including 1099s, sales and use tax, property tax, and Delaware tax filings. 
  • State registrations 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure of each client served.
  • Supervise Associates to ensure all financial reporting and compliance filing deadlines are met.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and quarterly close and preparation of financial information.
  • Provide exceptional client service to external clients and provide Manager support.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure a clean and timely year end audit. 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and active CPA license are preferred, or detailed progress toward the CPA license (or equivalent).
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience with monthly closings, financial reporting and general ledger experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication and professionalism.
  • Ability to develop proficiency with a variety of technology and software applications.
  • Experience with AI and demonstration of integrating AI into your daily workflow is a plus.
  • Self-starter, who enjoys multi-tasking, learning, and working in a dynamic and supportive environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office software - working experience with Outlook and Excel.

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000. This pay range reflects the San Francisco Bay Area. Compensation will be adjusted for each candidate based on their geographic location and experience.
