The Financial Crime Data Analyst & Governance position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data governance, analytics, reporting, and business intelligence solutions supporting the Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) Program, including BSA/AML, OFAC, Fraud, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), Customer Risk Management, Transaction Monitoring, Case Management, and Regulatory Reporting functions.
This role serves as the primary liaison between Financial Crime Prevention, Information Technology, Enterprise Data & Analytics, Operations, and third-party solution providers to ensure data integrity, governance, automation, and optimization of financial crime systems and reporting. The position is responsible for maintaining data lineage and mapping documentation, developing automated reporting solutions, supporting system implementations and enhancements, monitoring data quality, and providing actionable analytics to support executive management, regulatory examinations, audits, and strategic decision-making.
The Financial Crime Data Analyst & Governance professional assists in evaluating data quality, reporting methodologies, system functionality, and operational efficiencies to strengthen the Bank's Financial Crime Prevention Program and support regulatory excellence.
What You'll Do:
Financial Crime Analytics & Reporting
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance analytics and reporting solutions supporting BSA/AML, OFAC, Fraud, Customer Risk Management, EDD, Transaction Monitoring, and Case Management functions.
- Develop and maintain automated dashboards, scorecards, visualizations, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and management reports utilizing business intelligence tools.
- Produce recurring and ad hoc reports as needed to support executive management, Board reporting, regulatory examinations, audits, and operational management.
- Perform trend analysis, root cause analysis, and statistical assessments to identify emerging financial crime risks, operational challenges, and improvement opportunities.
- Translate analytical findings into executive-ready presentations, dashboards, and actionable recommendations.
Fraud Analytics & Financial Crime Intelligence
- Develop and maintain analytical reporting related to fraud trends, fraud losses, account takeover activity, elder financial exploitation, mule activity, check fraud, ACH fraud, wire fraud, digital fraud, and emerging financial crime typologies.
- Partner with Fraud Director and business stakeholders to identify suspicious trends and recommend enhancements to fraud detection strategies and controls.
- Support fraud rule optimization, model performance monitoring, and detection effectiveness reporting.
- Analyze internal and external data sources to support proactive identification of financial crime risks.
Data Governance & Quality Management
- Maintain the Financial Crime Prevention data governance framework, including data inventories, data dictionaries, business definitions, source systems, reporting calculations, and lineage documentation.
- Establish and maintain data quality standards, controls, reconciliations, and exception monitoring processes.
- Conduct periodic reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity of data utilized within Financial Crime Prevention systems and reporting processes.
- Investigate data quality issues, coordinate remediation efforts, and track resolution of identified deficiencies.
- Maintain documentation supporting governance, audit, regulatory, and model validation requirements.
System Integration, Data Mapping & Technology Support
- Lead business-side data mapping initiatives supporting Financial Crime applications, including transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, fraud detection, customer risk rating, and case management platforms.
- Collaborate with Technology, Enterprise Data & Analytics, Operations, and vendors to design, validate, and optimize source-to-target data mappings.
- Participate in system implementations, upgrades, conversions, data migrations, and enhancement projects.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT), data validation, reconciliation activities, and post-implementation monitoring.
- Maintain system inventories, data flow diagrams, reporting inventories, issue logs, and technology governance documentation.
- Serve as subject matter expert for Financial Crime data flows and data architecture.
Reporting Automation & Process Optimization
- Identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities to automate reporting, data collection, reconciliations, and operational processes across the Financial Crime Prevention Program.
- Partner with Financial Crime Prevention management, Information Technology and Data teams to develop automated data feeds, reporting solutions, workflows, and integrations.
- Utilize advanced analytics, business intelligence tools, artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, and emerging technologies to improve operational effectiveness and reporting efficiency.
- Support initiatives focused on reducing manual effort, improving data accuracy, and enhancing program scalability.
Regulatory, Audit & Risk Support
- Support OCC examinations, regulatory reviews, internal audits, external audits, and model validation activities by providing reports, analytics, and supporting documentation.
- Develop and maintain reporting supporting Enterprise-wide BSA/AML, Fraud, and OFAC Risk Assessments.
- Assist with risk metric development, threshold monitoring, issue tracking, and remediation activities.
- Ensure reporting methodologies and analytics remain aligned with evolving regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
- Maintain thorough documentation of reporting assumptions, methodologies, controls, and governance processes.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with Financial Crime Prevention leadership, Operations, Information Technology, Data & Analytics, Risk
- Management, and business units to support strategic initiatives and operational objectives.
- Act as a central point of contact for Financial Crime data, reporting, governance, and analytics-related inquiries.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to stakeholders utilizing Financial Crime dashboards, reports, and analytical tools.
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives supporting the continued maturity of the Financial Crime Prevention Program.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Financial Crime, AML, Fraud, Risk Analytics, Data Analytics, Compliance Analytics, Business Intelligence, or related disciplines.
- Experience supporting financial institutions, FinTechs, regulatory compliance functions, or financial crime prevention programs.
- Experience supporting transaction monitoring platforms, sanctions screening solutions, fraud detection applications, customer risk rating systems, or case management platforms.
- Experience with reporting automation, dashboard development, and business intelligence solutions.
- Experience participating in system implementations, integrations, data migrations, and technology projects.
- Experience supporting regulatory examinations, internal audits, external audits, or model validation activities.
- Advanced knowledge of BSA/AML, OFAC, Fraud Prevention, Customer Due Diligence, and Financial Crime Risk Management principles.
- Strong understanding of financial crime typologies, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and fraud detection methodologies.
- Advanced proficiency with reporting, business intelligence, and analytics tools including Power BI, SQL, Excel, Tableau, SSRS, SAS, Python, or equivalent technologies.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, data lineage, data mapping, and data quality management principles.
- Experience developing dashboards, automated reporting solutions, and executive management reporting.
- Ability to design, validate, and document data mappings and source-to-target transformations.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
