Summary/Objective: 
The Controller is responsible for the financial management, reporting, and operational accounting for our middle-market operating company. This leadership position oversees a team of three, ensuring the accuracy of financial records and providing timely financial insights to guide strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on manager who can optimize our financial processes to support sustained growth for our enterprise as we look towards additional acquisitions and organic growth.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and WIP accounting.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and the annual audit.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Coordinate all annual audit activity and serve as the main point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Prepare and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts, analyzing variances between actual and budgeted performance to provide insight to management.
  • Oversee and mentor the accounting team, fostering a high-performance, collaborative environment and ensuring professional development.
  • Work with leadership to analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations for improving profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and debt, while staying informed on evolving financial regulations and industry best practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct and indirect reports to be determined but this will have supervisory responsibilities.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some overnight travel may be expected.

Work Environment/Physical Demands: 

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, fax machines and copy machines. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds. 

Required Education, Experience & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; preferred experience in public accounting
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems, internal controls, and audit procedures
  • Hands-on and detail-oriented, with a willingness to dive into daily accounting operations.
  • Proficiency with NetSuite and QuickBooks preferred.
