Job Summary

The Senior Content Strategist supports content development and drives creative storytelling across Key, planning, writing, and developing high-impact content that simplifies complex technical or financial topics into clear, compelling narratives. Reporting to the Principal Content Strategist, this role delivers content that drives business impact across KeyBank.

Essential Functions

Develop, write, and edit engaging content and storytelling narratives across formats, including sales materials, product messaging, case studies, presentations, white papers, and video scripts. Work with the Principal Content Strategist to align content strategy with product and marketing initiatives. Craft high-impact narratives for product launches, internal communications, and client engagement initiatives. Manage the annual review process and updates for financial education content. Apply Design Thinking principles and support content strategy workshops. Utilize, explore, and test AI tools for content development to accelerate research, ideation, and content scaling workflows. Navigate cross-functional stakeholders to drive consensus for impactful content initiatives. Support content research, interviews, and competitive analysis for financial products and services. Perform other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice. Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Work Experience

4+ years of relevant experience in content management, content writing, and content strategy.

Experience writing on financial topics, experience in financial services or another regulated industry preferred.

Experience developing content across multiple channels, including B2B and/or B2B2C sales and marketing materials (with portfolio examples).

Experience with AI-driven content tools preferred.

  • Content Writing & Editing: Excellent writing and editing skills in English, with the ability to produce clear, high-quality content across a high volume of formats.
  • Content Strategy & Architecture: Ability to plan and structure content with a keen eye for content architecture that aligns to product and marketing initiatives.
  • Storytelling: Ability to translate complex technical or financial topics into clear, compelling narratives that engage the intended audience.
  • Organization & Time Management: Strong organizational and time-management skills to plan and deliver a high volume of strategic content on schedule.
  • AI-Enabled Content Tools: Ability to learn, adapt to, and apply AI tools to accelerate research, ideation, and content scaling workflows.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work across sales, product, marketing, and design teams to drive consensus and deliver impactful content.
  • Financial Content Acumen: Ability to develop accurate, compliant content on financial topics within a regulated environment.
Compensation and Benefits

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives. Key has implemented an approach to employee workspaces which prioritizes in-office presence, while providing flexible options in circumstances where roles can be performed effectively in a mobile environment.
