What are some common challenges Financial Compliance Managers face when working with cross-functional teams?

Financial Compliance Managers often collaborate with departments such as finance, legal, operations, and IT to ensure regulatory requirements are met. A common challenge is aligning diverse teams with complex compliance standards while balancing business objectives and tight deadlines. Effective communication and a strong understanding of both regulatory frameworks and business processes are essential for resolving misunderstandings and driving compliance initiatives forward. Building strong working relationships and providing clear guidance can help overcome these challenges and foster a culture of compliance throughout the organization.

Is compliance hard to break into?

Breaking into a Financial Compliance Manager role can be challenging due to the need for relevant experience, knowledge of regulations, and often professional certifications like CAMS or CRCM. Candidates typically need a background in finance, law, or auditing, along with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Will compliance be replaced by AI?

For a Financial Compliance Manager, AI can automate routine tasks such as data analysis and monitoring, but it is unlikely to fully replace the need for human judgment in compliance decisions. AI tools are used to enhance efficiency and accuracy, while compliance professionals interpret complex regulations and oversee ethical standards. Human oversight remains essential in ensuring regulatory adherence and managing nuanced situations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Financial Compliance Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Financial Compliance Manager, you need expertise in financial regulations, risk assessment, and audit processes, typically supported by a degree in finance, accounting, or related fields and relevant certifications like CPA or CAMS. Familiarity with compliance management systems, audit software, and regulatory databases is crucial for monitoring and reporting purposes. Strong attention to detail, integrity, and effective communication skills help in interpreting regulations and collaborating with cross-functional teams. These competencies ensure organizations adhere to legal standards, minimize risk, and maintain credibility with stakeholders.

Job description

Description

At Arrive AI (Nasdaq: ARAI), we're not just building products-we're transforming the future of the Autonomous Last Mile (ALM). Over a decade ago, we started with a pioneering vision and patents for the first smart mailbox for drone delivery. Through systematic research, development, and deep customer collaboration, we've evolved to today where we deploy Arrive Points-a type of smart locker and mini-cross-docks for frictionless drone, robotic, and courier delivery and pickup, utilized from medical supplies to meals to e-commerce. Arrive AI is now growing and investing to scale an ALM network and platform of the future for all autonomous delivery providers, services, and customers. Arrive AI is the intelligent choice for the last inch of the Autonomous Last Mile.

About Us

We move fast, balancing strategy with opportunity. We are merit-based, valuing integrity, innovation, and treating others as we want to be treated. At Arrive AI, every employee is an equity holder and a business owner. Our shared vision, ownership, and culture fuel our mission to revolutionize autonomous delivery.

Finance & Compliance Team

You'll be joining Arrive AI's Finance & Compliance function at a pivotal moment-as a publicly traded company on NASDAQ, we are scaling our internal controls, financial reporting, and regulatory infrastructure to match our growth. Our lean, high-impact team partners closely with executive leadership, legal, and operations to ensure Arrive AI operates with the integrity and transparency required of a publicly listed company. Based in Fishers, IN, this is a unique opportunity to shape the compliance and controls foundation of a category-defining autonomous logistics company-and share in its success.

Role Overview

The Financial Compliance Manager is a hands-on controls and reporting leader responsible for designing, maintaining, and monitoring Arrive AI's financial compliance framework-with a primary focus on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. This role blends technical accounting knowledge, internal controls expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the integrity of our financial reporting as a NASDAQ-listed company. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings a builder's mentality, and can translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, scalable processes.

Key Responsibilities

SOX Compliance & Internal Controls

Own the end-to-end SOX compliance program, including scoping, risk assessment, control design, testing, and remediation across all relevant financial processes.

Maintain and update the SOX control framework-documenting key controls, narratives, and process flow documentation (risk and control matrices).

Plan and execute control testing (design and operating effectiveness) in coordination with stakeholders and auditors.

Identify control gaps and deficiencies, lead remediation efforts, and track findings through to resolution.

Serve as the primary liaison with auditors on SOX-related matters, facilitating efficient and timely audit support.

Financial Reporting & Regulatory Compliance

Support preparation and review of SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements.

Monitor evolving regulatory guidance (FASB, SEC, PCAOB) and assess applicability and impact to Arrive AI's compliance obligations.

Partner with the CFO and Controller to ensure financial disclosures meet all NASDAQ listing standards.

Maintain the company's financial policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Cross-Functional Partnership

Collaborate with Finance, Legal and IT to embed compliance considerations into business processes and system changes.

Support IT general controls (ITGCs) assessments in partnership with the IT team, particularly as they relate to financial systems.

Provide compliance guidance on new business initiatives, contracts, and transactions to ensure regulatory alignment.

Train and educate internal stakeholders on SOX requirements, control responsibilities, and compliance culture.

Risk Management & Ethics

Contribute to the company's enterprise risk management (ERM) framework, identifying and monitoring key financial and operational risks.

Support Arrive AI's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics by reinforcing a culture of accountability and ethical financial practices.

Maintain awareness of and adherence to anti-bribery and corruption regulations (including FCPA) and other applicable financial laws.

Assist in the development and monitoring of the company's Insider Trading Policy and related securities compliance programs.

What Success Looks Like

A robust, well-documented SOX compliance program that earns clean auditor attestation year over year.

Strong internal controls embedded across financial processes that scale with the company's growth.

A trusted compliance partner for leadership-known for practical, solutions-oriented guidance.

A culture of financial integrity and accountability across the organization.

Timely, accurate SEC filings with zero material weaknesses or significant deficiencies.

Requirements

What You Bring

5-10 years of experience in financial compliance, internal audit, or public accounting, with demonstrated SOX expertise required.

Deep knowledge of SEC reporting requirements, internal control frameworks (COSO), PCAOB and US GAAP standards.

Prior experience at a publicly traded company or Big 4 / regional public accounting firm strongly preferred.

CPA, CIA, or CISA certification preferred.

Proven ability to manage and execute SOX programs-from scoping and risk assessment through testing and remediation.

Strong analytical and documentation skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills-able to translate complex regulatory requirements for non-finance stakeholders.

Organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating with autonomy in a growth-stage, fast-moving environment.

Experience with financial systems and IT general controls; familiarity with ERP environments is a plus.
