Your Impact as a Financial Analyst
At Mission Pet Health, our mission to care for pets and their families drives everything we do. This is where you come in. In addition to gaining a wealth of Accounting experience in a fast-paced and dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in scaling our organization for future success. Please note that this role is onsite in our Birmingham, Alabama office.
Your Impact Will Include:
  • Preparing Annual Budgets: You will prepare annual hospital budgets with input from SLT, field directors, and historical trends.
  • Conducting Variance Analysis: You'll conduct budget-to-actual variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Monitoring Key Metrics: You will monitor key financial metrics and performance indicators, and report relevant findings to seniors.
  • Updating Financial Forecasts: You'll update forecasts based on budget variances, historical trends, feedback from leadership, and new information from other departments.
  • Conducting Detailed Analyses: You will conduct detailed financial analyses and provide insights to supervisors regarding hospital performance.
  • Reporting and Communicating: You'll update monthly financial reports, communicate results, and assist in preparing quarterly board of director slides.
  • Driving Continuous Improvement: You'll continuously improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and support our team goals.
  • Supporting Audits: You will support the accounting team with internal and external audits as needed.
What You'll Bring to the Team
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in financial analysis or a similar role.
  • A problem-solving and solution-oriented mindset, with a commitment to our WAG values.
  • Strong functional and technical knowledge, especially with financial modeling and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, financial software).
  • Excellent analytical skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Consistent and effective communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • A collaborative nature, with a sense of commitment to your direct teammates and the larger Mission team.
  • An understanding of how your team's priorities align with company goals.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools is a plus.
